The Free I Can Wash My Hands Social Story is part of my health unit. We teach our children to wash hands, now they have learned to wash hands, but they must know when to wash hands. This Free Social Story I Can Wash My Hands examines in simple language when I need to wash my hands and that it is okay to wash my hands many times a day. The story also hits on the topic of germs, If I don't wash my hands I can get sick.
If you are teaching toileting, or eating at a table you can pair this book with a specific program. This is a great book to reinforce and summarize all the learnings. Sometimes we have to tie in the information for our children, to make those small connections that can otherwise be difficult.
