Importance of  Oral Health

Oral health refers to the health of your teeth and your mouth. Maintaining good oral health includes keeping your teeth free from cavities and keeping your gums free from disease. [1] The common perception is that poor oral health can lead to gum disease, cavities and other related health issues with the mouth. However, research now shows that poor oral health can affect other areas of your body. Research exists that shows the connection between poor oral health and diabetes in people of all ages, respiratory diseases in elderly, and of great concern, is new research indicating a possible connection between oral health and heart disease.
